I've inherited some whiskeys and wanting to sell

Hi,

I've cleared my parents house out and saved some of my Dad's whiskeys. I've tried to search online to get a value, but I've not got very far. Could someone please point me in the direction of how and where I can find out the value? I've been told the Cardhu is worth a few hundred pounds, but don't know if this is true, or what the others are worth. Some of the boxes have got a bit bashed in the move unfortunately, does this make any difference? From what I can tell all seals look fine.











































I've also got some ports and wines, anyone know where I can get these valued (sorry I know this is a whiskey forum but you never know )

You could try looking through old auctions at www.mctears.co.uk to get an idea of value and what they may sell for.

They are the experts. I valued a collection for a colleague the other day filled mainly with blends like yours and they were disappointed too. You can sell at auction for current prices, sell as a bulk quickly for less or hold on In the hope prices rise. Your collection while some are interesting in the whole it is not that rare.

snerkler, not sure what valuations you have been given and why you think they are low but the mistake many sellers make is they expect their whisky to sell for the amounts they see the same whisky selling for in whisky specialist shops, this is a mistake. In a private sale or auction whisky such as yours will fetch around half what you see it selling for in specialist whisky shops. Remember whisky shops add taxes and they have to make a profit.

For example your bottle of Glen Moray 12 in the Black Watch Royal Highland Reiment is £69.95 over at The Whisky Exchange but in in private sale or auction you would be looking at around £35 - £40

Where did you see the Cardhu for that much and for what one as there are two in your collection.

Remember you dont have to sell, you have some nice whisky there, you may grow to like the stuff and in the future you can toast your dad.
