Hi,
I got given a bottle of Glenbridge 40 year Old Speyside Malt Whisky a year or so ago. I'm looking to sell it on, it's still in perfect condition. Any ideas on where is best to sell it and the market value currently?
Thanks

The Glenbridge 40 is a Aldi own label whisky which Aldi sold for £50 in 2011, they released 3000 bottles. They did not disclose the distillery where the whisky originated from. By all accounts i read it was a very drinkable sherry influenced Speyside whisky.
Even though we dont know the distillery it originated from it should still fetch a few pound due to its age and the fact it had good reviews. I havent really been monitoring what it has been changing hands for but i would guess you will be looking at £80 plus but you never know what it may fetch at auction could be less or a lot more depends on the bidders on the day. |

Get it down your neck sir! When's the next time you're gonna have a 40yr old whisky, which from all accounts seems to be very tasty, in your possession? Live a little _________________ I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things, at this rate I may never die! |

Yeah, drink it! You can get 40yo Glenfarclas for around £300 or independent bottlings for marginally less but you won't sell this for much more than £130 minus your auction fees and you can't use eBay any longer so your costs will be significant. I'd say you're better off enjoying it for what it is.
I got two of the Maxwell 33yo (Lidl) for £40 each last Christmas and had a hell of a time trying to punt one on eBay, I got £80 for it in the end but it wasn't worth the hassle. The other bottle drank very nicely though. And remember, Lidl and Aldi do these every year, you just need to be organised/quick off the mark! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

It's a very nice dram but because the distillery is unknown doesn't fetch a huge amount at auction. Check out history for scotchwhiskyauctions.co.uk for previous sales.
As someone else said you don't often get the chance to drink a bottle of 40yo malt without paying a huge amount of money so why not enjoy it? |

Thanks for all the responses. I admit that I am tempted to keep hold of it and drink it but it depends on the value of it if i can get a decent price at auction. I already have a 25 year old Glenlivet i'm working my way through and a number of friends also have this particular whisky if i wanted to try it... |

| I have seen this going for around £200 at auction, then you would have auction costs, taxes, and shipping costs to take off that figure. See the auction links listed above if you are looking to sell. |
