Figures in trade journal Off Licence News has revealed the vodka has has become the UKs favourite spirit for the first time.
Vodka sales have shot up to £747 million
Blended Whisky Sales were £742 million
Single Malt Whisky sales were £130 so this combined with the blended whisky sales still makes whisky the UKs No1 spirit. But analysts are predicting that vodka will outsell all whisky combined by the end of the year. This is due tothe fact that vodka sales have rocketed as trendy drink for young clubbers and is the favourite drink for the hundreds of thousands of Eurpean migrants in the UK.
