This was the gem from last night's tasting at Companions of the Quaich in Niagara-on-the-Lake. 246 bottles were officially produced from the pick of 6 cask samples, from a single sherry butt. This was a bottling especially for Companions of the Quaich. Here are my taste notes for Benriach 18 Years 1994 limited Ed
Neat-
Nose: Peat, molasses and smoke house hues, sherry-apricot melange, blood oranges, hint of iodine and caramel.
Palate: Peat, iodine, spice, pepper, syrup, mouth-filling.
Finish: Long, tobacco, spice, pepper and sherry essences.
This dram impressed in every way and presented as complex, well-balanced and robust. I would have to rate it extremely high. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| Yes sounds like a good one, was it cask strength and did you get yourself a bottle? |

It was 56.7% abv. I could have bought a bottle but lately I've been going a bit overboard with my collection ( I tell myself) so I showed restraint last night and passed on the 3 offerings. No regrets.
