Today was a big day for us as we moved out of our house so I'm celebrating the successful completion of the sale with Maxwell 33 and probably a Highland Park 18. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

We had a couple of programs on BBC 2 tonight about Burns links to Ulster, we had "An Ode To Burns And Ulster" then an Eddi Reader program again about Burns influence on Ulster poets.

| I was \ am away for Burns nigh at a wee hotel that has a rather impressive selection of single malts, over 100 or so they boast. Anyway after viewing the menu, I saw they had a Brora 1982 I'd never had a Brora, I was impressed |

Alun, is that the 26 year old Brora (1982) by Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail)?
Sounds like a gem. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I'm not sure which one it was as I didn't see the bottle, but it was v good. I also had a Glenfarclas 105 as a night cap too!
I've actually just been to a whisky shop which had over 300 malts on sale, spent a while browsing and chatting to the guy who worked there, he took me into the 'fine wine' room out the back where they had a few dozen older and much more expensive whiskies, the 40 to 60 year old range, upwards of £5000 a bottle, nice to look but a little out of my price range.
May head back there later to pick something up, not sure yet though, but the guy was talking about their own bottling of 21yr old Springbank which sounded excellent. |

I wouldn't mind having a look at that "fine wine" room. During my recent trip to Montreal, I brought back a bottle of Glenfaclas 105, a powerful and tasty dram. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Arran Bere.
Official bottlers for the Burns Federation and (perhaps) more authentic than anything else being offered, if you want to step back in time. I've tried it and was pleasantly surprised ....definitely different and a top dram. |

Interesting reference. Here's a further brief blurb about it:
