Another wee topic from me on a Thursday morning.
I was just wondering this time about the number of bottles people have, having listed my own, I then did some playing about with the average strength and average age, really showing my excel skills here!!
So the number of bottles I have is 22 (6 open)
Average age of those bottles is 16.35yrs
Average strength is 52.10% Hmmmm anyone else thing that I'm a cask strength fan right now?
Just wondered how everyone else looked on this score.
Edit to say, I counted NAS whisky as 3yr old. |

I have around 30 unopened and probably around 20 of them i have no plans to open soon (an may sell if the price is right) and the other 10 are for my regular dramming (weekend mainly), i usualyy stock up a bit when the the supermarkets have good offers.
No idea what the average strength would be but not very high as not many of my bottles are cask strength. |

Thank the lord for Big Mac....
....after reading the first two posts I was starting to think I had a problem......68 bottles!
But, only 1 open and it has been since October now.
I have all kinds of types and strengths. At one time I was going to collect every bottle you could get....that proved a tad expensive So I ended up with most of the Glenlivets and Glenmorangies.....most of the Glenfiddichs, and the specials.
Now Im just down to buying Glenfiddich specials, doesnt help that my son used to buy e a bottle every fathers day/birthday/Christmas. I said I would open them when he had a son or his sons 18th etc. Theyre probably worth too much now!! I mean.....its possible you could have several grandkids....but only one bottle of 1991. |

I've only got 9 bottles at the moment so easy calculations. Average age is just shy of 19 years, average percentage is 46%. Two are unopened.
I've been holding back lately as I'm having to economise a bit and I had been splashing out on more and more expensive bottles. At least the wife will be pleased! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Like bifter, I've been holding back lately, but I've gone the other way, buying only bargains and entry-level bottlings on offer. As a result, the average age of my 22 bottles is only 12.2 (that includes young ones like the Laphroaig QC, Talisker 57 North etc.). 19 of these 22 bottles are opened, so obviously I'm not a patient man!
Average strength is the Talisker-esque 45.8%. |
