A few of you may already know about this one as it has become an annual release around this time of year. Glenmorangie have announced the 4th addition to there popular Private Edition range, the Glenmorangie Ealanta (Scots Gaelic for "skilled and ingenious') is a 19 year old expression of Glenmorangie which has been fully matured in virgin American white oak casks.

Bottled at a strength of 46%, and non chill-filtered for extra texture and mouth feel, the Glenmorangie Ealanta is available globally from January 2013. The Ealanta has an RRP of £74.99

Interesting, i have only tried young whisky which has been matured in virgin oak and it did seem it have quite an influence, adding a nice bit of spice. I wonder what this will be like after spending 19 years in virgin oak casks.

£75 for a Glenmorangie 19 year old is not too bad a price considering it is £85 for the standard Glenmorangie 18. I have really enjoyed the first 3 bottles in this Private Edition range but i am a bit uncertain of this one with it spending 19 years in virgin oak so i think i will be waiting to see a few reviews first.
