My first ever tasting note...finally opened my bottle of Strathisla 14 cask strength edition tonight. Distilled in 1997 bottled in 2012. I even used my Strathisla glass.

The colour of this stuff is spectacular.

Nose: Fields on a summer day, fresh bales of hay, a fruitiness with a hint of oak.

My gf said that if it was a colour it would be yellow

Palate: Very light, lots of honey in here and the oak is unmissable, so smooth and energising.

Finish: Leaves a gorgeous lingering honey, oak, pepper and hay

I have only had a bottle of the standard Strathisla 12 year old and was quite unimpressed with it, nothing wrong with it, it was enjoyable enough but i wont be picking up another bottle.

Going by your tasting note Soggy Kilt, it looks like Strathisla is a whisky that benefits from being aged longer and bottled at a higher strength.

It sounds like it! I must admit I this is the first Strathisla I have ever had so I cannot compare it.
