Over the last few years the increase in the numbers of women at whisky events has become very noticeable.

Blackadder, perhaps almost half of the members of my single malt scotch club in Niagara, Ontario, I would hazard a guess to say are women, some younger adults; and many guests brought to the events are women. Of course the older men in kilts are well-represented too.

Many of the women we see in the UK at whisky events are younger women. Thankfully my other half has never found a liking for malt whisky or it could be a very expensive hobby Smile She would sometimes accompany me to tastings and she has tried some of the best whiskies available but she simply doesnt have a taste for it.

My better half hates whisky too.

Though I must say one of the things which struck me when I joined the SMWS was the number of younger people, both male and female who attend the venues in Edinburgh I honestly thought it would be older guys beards pipes etc, but not at all.

Nothing wrong with it.

My wife can take a whisky with a mixer such as ginger ale or a whisky liqueur, she loves the Drambuie 15 but she has never got the taste for single malts, thank goodness Smile

I wouldnt mind if she did have a taste for single malt whisky, i would then have have someone to discuss my favorite pastime with.

Murray you dont say if your good wife joins you with your love for Scotlands best export.
