My Latest Tasting of Lagavulin 16 Today

My current bottle of Lag 16 has reached a low level and I thought it would be fitting to provide my taste notes from today. I often find variations in my taste notes for the same bottle and I have learned from experience that often it is primarily as a result of my taste buds on any given day. Here's my "buds" perspective today- (Forgive me if I am waxing a bit poetic in my taste notes today....my colleagues at my single malt scotch club seem to like it).

Neat-

Nose: Iodine yielding to sweet fleeting essences swept away by refined peat and medicinal hues, smoke house whiffs, oak forest with cedar overtones, salt of the Earth as the seaman sees it with a hint of coarse cantaloup beige skin and sherry reminders.

Palate: Encompassing peat and bonfire smoke, spicy aftermath, oily, salty, leather Lazy Boy upholstery, the high seas on a stormy day and warming by the stone hearth.

Finish: Long, the peat unfurls its flag for the long haul; smoke its companion in the forms of bonfire to mild BBQ to lit tobacco disguises, mouth filling and warm, brazen yet capable of such gentility in the ebb and flow of time.

I think tasting notes should be fun, if one has the ability to compose them in such a way.

Always nice to read other peoples take on tasting notes, I have a bottle of the Laga 16 at home ready to open at some point!
