I bought two bottles of this whisky and have listed one on eBay with the aim of recouping my outlay. Including eBay fees and appropriately insured postage the total comes to £98.25.

I'm really quite sick of eBay (also due to previous incidents). I did nothing that breached their published policy but they come up with some contrived reason to pull my listing. Besides there are still two auctions for this whisky currently live and one completed listing! Needless to say I've responded in withering style but I don't expect reinstatement!

Yes its a pain, But relist your item stating -
"To comply with ebay's policey this bottle is over 20 years old"
And put a date beside it like - "This bottle was made in 1979" (Never mention the whisky inside though as they take it the wrong way and think you are highlighting the whisky not the bottle.
Also remove the size if its in it eg instead of 70cl put it is a full sized bottle
And dont mention the ABV% Just put contact Me (The Seller) for more Information.
Hope this helps as i have had ALOT of trouble as well

Well, I tried again with the text "this bottle was made in 1979" but it was removed again. During this escapade I've also had a couple of people contact me through the message system to inform me that my listing breached the (unpublished) rules, it would seem there is a lot of snitching going on. I was disgusted with the whole exercise and eBay weren't answering my queries so I tried to close my account but they won't even let me do that though there is no balance due or in credit!
Anyhoo! I've listed this bottle on a few classifieds sites (and here) but not being able to use eBay really hinders the extent of the audience I can reach. At least I won't have to pay the rip off eBay and PayPal fees.

Not good!
Just shows how petty some people are, i bet it will be someone that was unable to get a bottle but are to tight to pay £90 (Still a very fair price) for a 33yo malt! (BTW have you opened your drinking bottle yet??)
want to open one of my 28yo bottles but have to many open already so it will have to wait a while untill i drink some of my open bottles.
Does any one else within your family have an account that could list it for you?
Stick it on Gumtree etc as well, but list it a little higher as you always get someone that will offer you less than your asking price.

I tried Gumtree but they have a 'no alcohol' policy, they're owned by eBay I believe. I'm willing to bide my time and find a buyer via other avenues, as you say its a fair price so I'm confident it will sell. I haven't opened my other bottle yet, like you I have a few choices for my next uncorking.

Sold! Bit of a palaver though. I shall open the drinking bottle over Xmas. I haven't seen any reviews other than Jim Murray's.

I got the wife to list it and it sold quick via BIN.. It's like the wild west on eBay just now. Happy to put one over on them after the way I've been treated.
