Hi all,

So after amassing quite a collection as a whisky newbie over the past 2 years, I've begun toning way back on my purchasing (mainly because my cellar now looks like a bar, and I should be set for awhile...).

But I'm still interested in the 'new classics' that might have come out recently, or even bottlings that are being discontinued that are worth getting before they vanish!

Any thoughts on either? Any price range (well, up to the $200 range..) but primarily interested in $100 or less.

gambler, have you a preference for any particular style? Peaty, sherried? It may help to point you at something good you will particularly enjoy.

Of late I've really been enjoying Glenmorangies and Balvenies. I had the pleasure of finding a Balvenie Golden Cask in an airport that I really enjoyed. I also love Glenmorangie Finealta and Sonnalta PX.

But I also love me some smoky, sweet whiskys... Like Caol Ila, Ardbeg and McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt (not a Scotch of course, but if anyone's tried it, so far that's close to perfect for my tastes when I'm into something smoky).

And I also like well balanced whiskies like Highland Park.

I'm sure this new Bowmore Devil thing will be worth trying and within your price range.

Also the Spring Bank Runlets and Kilderkins was supposed to be excellent, again within your price range.

As far as collectables go, watch out for some Royal Baby releases from the usual suspects!
