If you live nearby, there were a few tickets returned on the day last year. |

The only thing stopping me from coming to this event is the Atlantic Ocean, living here in Canada. When I think about perfect pictures, what comes to mind is drinking a peated malt while being on Islay or going to a whisky event in Scotland like this one. For those going, have a great time and a wee dram for me....

Well folks had a great day, met some nice people and tasted some great whisky, the best for me were the following,
Old Pultney 40 (Liquid fruit pastels)
Tomintoul 30 (Strawberries and cream)
Ben Riach 25
I know that these are all at the higher end re cost and availability but that is what I found.
A surprise for me was the Glen Moray 8 yr old Chennin Blanc a nice drink and the Festival bottling a SMWS 7.79 Longmore was also very nice.
I avoided Islay whisky as I wanted to keep my palate clear and have tasted quite a few over the years.
I have not made detailed notes as when at a festival I tend to just mark out of ten and keep the writing to a minimum so that I can enjoy the tasting, the first two got 11/10.
If you can go next year I would suggest that the £20 entry fee is money very well spent,
but please pace yourself, have a meal first and drink plenty of water, I had a great day, walked out unaided (unlike some) and had a few more pints/whiskies at the Pot Still later a great day.
Cheers all. |

Sounds like you had just a great time. Those older drams were really the icing on the cake. The OP 40 would really suit me I believe. The comraderie at events like yours where everyone is really interested in what's going on makes it that much more fun and memorable. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Tried this on Friday as part of the SMWS Xmas outturn, first fill ex-bourbon 9yo, lovely dram. Sounds like you got to try some really special numbers!
I agree it's important to pace yourself and take on water, I was at Whisky Fringe this year and some people were obviously worse for wear by the end. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."
