Picked up a bottle today of Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve Canadian blended whisky this afternoon at the LCBO. The distillery is only 30 minutes drive to Grimsby, Ontario. I've met the owner and whisky maker John Hall before. Jim Murray rates this whisky very high at 90.5. The great news here in Canada, it is only 28.45 Cdn or 17 pounds or so equivalent for this one. It's not available in Europe. Jim Murray rates the Forty Creek Port Wood Reserve at 95.5. I had a master class tasting at the distillery a few months ago and had the Forty Creek Barrel Select, The Copper Pot, The Double Barrel, The Confederation Oak and the Port Wood Reserve. It was lead by Jim Hall himself for a few hours. Just great! _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

It's already made its way to parts of the USA, such as Texas and it would definitely be a hit in Europe but so far I don't think anything is in the works for foreign shipping across the pond. I hope that my Forum brethren will eventually be able to enjoy it.. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I decided to open my bottle Of Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve Canadian Whisky today
and here are my tasting notes having it neat:
Nose: Sweet varnish meshing into dark toffee "to die for", pungent honey, vanilla bean, cherries, oranges, apricots, peaches, dark maple syrup, butterscotch; rich and wonderful aromas.
Palate: Honey, apricots, stewed prunes, mixed nuts, prune nectar, spice, marmelade notes, raisins, layers upon layers of dry stone fruits and ending with spicy cantaloup.
Finish: Drying, stewed spicy fruit, hint of pepper, long, leather sweetness, fruity wood and a hint of tobacco smoke.
This is a big whisky with complexity forged from a great balance of rye, corn and barley grains. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Mac, Forty Creek is apparently now available in 43 States according to their website. This is the email address they provide to check if it is in yours.
