I had a wonderful memory flash the other day back to 1981 when I was touring Japan on vacation from Canada. I was having a wonderful dinner one evening on the roof restaurant of a department store having some restaurant drams of Suntory whisky. I unfortunately can't remember what bottles they came from but after thirty odd years my memory is a bit choppy.
I remember however they were marvelous and added to the Japanese experience. Whisky was a favorite of many of the locals, sometimes even challenging good old saki. The rise of single malts of the Japanese variety across the world is testimony to the great products. It's nice to reminesce now and again. Yes?

| I have had the chance to taste a number of Japanese whiskies in recent years, mainly at tastings, these days they do produce some good stuff that rivals Scotch whisky, in fact tasted blind you could mistake some for Scotch. It is probably the price which stops me trying more Japanese whisky as it can be expensive and there are a lot of very good Scotch single malts available for less than what you pay for many of the Japanese whiskies. |

Why is the price of Japanese whisky so high
Is it perhaps related to there output capacity, perhaps they are small distilleries, i have never looked into it. Anyone here know? |

| I dont know the exact figures but i think the output capacity of most of the well known Japanese distilleries is quite large. |
