Glenfiddich 30 Year Old 2010 Release

Poured neat.

Nose: Dark honey sponge cake, hungry sherry not to be trifled with (i.e., lots of sherry trifle), salt-water taffy, butterscotch, sweet cereal, caramel, mocha, coffee crisp chocolate bar. Smokey finesse is stitched through sweet matured aromas like a 12 layered torte cake with intersecting aromas and seamless complexity taking one through a wonderful nosing journey.

Palate: Spice, old oak, honey mixed with prune nectar, rich and creamy, warming, coffee cake striped with dark syrup and fruity bottom.

Finish: Smooth, hint of molasses, momentary spice, dark chocolate (high % cocoa content) and the finest honey that would make the Queen bee of the hive proud.

This Glenfiddich is a gastronomic, rather "scotchtronomic" delicacy which magnifies the best of the Glenfiddich profile and fulfills a promise of royalty without bow or curtsey but with a stellar dram.

I treated myself to a bottle of the Glenfiddich 30 a couple of years ago very pleased i did.

Thanks for the note Quaich1, i have an unopened bottle of the Glenfiddich 30 which i bought earlier this year which i will open over the christmas holidays this year. Looking forward to it even more are reading your review. I have a bottle of the Glenfiddich 21 on the go at the moment and that is delicious, trying to keep a few drams of it to compare with the 30 year old.

I always think of this is a great dram to treat yourself at christmas, i think it is the custard/sherry/creamy/ spounge cake notes that makes me think that. Quaich1 your sherry trifle description is spot on. One of the best Glenfiddichs i have tasted, so far

I am very familiar with the Glenfiddich 30 as i have gotten through a few bottles in my time and it never fails to please.A quality dram.

I did a cookery course a couple of years ago, which was cookery and whisky, they whisky was Glenfiddich and they had the 12, 18, 21 and 30, the 30 from memory was stunning.
