I'm a native of Dundee and occasional resident though I last lived there 12 years ago. For an old pub atmosphere and a good selection of whiskies I would recommend 'Mennies', officially titled the Speedwell, on Perth Road:

Checking the link I found out that they actually organise trips to Blair Atholl and Edradour distilleries, both in Pitlochry, Perthshire. I've visited Edradour before - if you're not familiar with it it claims to be Scotland's smallest distillery (Kilchoman and Abhainn Dearg might give it a run though?) and is certainly very quaint. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I dont know Dundee myself other than passing through it on the train many times on the way to Aberdeen.
I was going to suggest the whisky magazine has just launched an online app "Great Whisky Bars of the World 2012" but there website appears to be down, unless my internet connection is playing up, anyway the link is http://www.whiskymag.com/bars/
If you can get the link to work i am sure if there are any whisky bars in the area worth visiting they will be listed.

Alistair, I just went to the site and it works fine. I was unaware of it before. It's a great link.
Thanks for the reference. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Teaching my granny to suck eggs then as they say, ha ha. Hope you enjoy your visit, Mennies is in the West End, quite a nice bit of the city, so you won't need your tin hat _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."
