|

It seems that Jack Teeling the man behind the Irish Cooley Distillery which earlier this year was sold to Beam Global for $95 million just couldn't stay away from the whiskey industry for long. Jack has founded The Teeling Whiskey Company to bring back an independent Irish voice albeit with a bit of a Scottish accent with his first independent bottling release.
The company has created a whole new whiskey category with its first entry in to the marketplace with the launch of Hybrid Malt Whiskey which is a marriage of Irish Cooley whiskey and Bruichladdich Scotch whisky.

Priced at £30 looks very reasonable to me for something new and interesting, I do wonder what will taste like though.
Could this sort of thing be what we start to see more of going forward? More innovation, more creativity in the industy? |

| Does sound interesting, 10 year old Bruichladdich added to i assume new make Cooley then matured for a further 8 years. I wonder what it tastes like also, was it a peated batch of Bruichladdich, was it a peated batch of Cooley in the mix. |

To be honest I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to test the market but I'm intrigued. The only Cooley whiskey I have tried is the Sainsburys TTD Dun Leire, which is cracking value and a really lovely drop.
I wonder what the SWA make of it! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

| Id imagine teh SWA would embrace this sort of thing, it promotes their product and shows some versitility along the way |

I had Connemara from Cooley which was ok, it was the no age statement i had so i would guess it was young whiskey.
I am surprised none of the established independent bottlers havet done something like this already, worth a tryat £30 i think |

I got a tasting note from Jack Teeling today, just getting a chance to post it now as i have been out all day. I added it here:

He mentioned that there was a long history of Irish-Scotch bottlings with the old Andrew A. Watt distillery having Iriscot as one in their stable of brands for many years. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |
