Tomatin & Antiquary Scoop Five Top Awards at the Prestigious 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
The Tomatin Distillery in Speyside is toasting a landslide success after winning five medals in this year's influential San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The distillery celebrated wins across both core Tomatin Single Highland Malt and Antiquary Superior Deluxe Blended Scotch Whisky ranges, with the Antiquary Deluxe Blended 21 Years Old Malt receiving a coveted Double Gold Medal. Not to be out done, the Tomatin 12 Years Old and 18 Years Old Single Malts both received Gold Medals, while the Tomatin 25 Years Old and Antiquary 12 Years Old Deluxe Blend were awarded prestigious Silver Medals.
Now in its eighth year, the International Wine & Spirit Competition is one of the premier competitions on the international stage, aiming to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.
The 21 Years Old Antiquary Deluxe Blended Malt saw of stiff competition from brands including Talisker 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch and Glengoyne 21 Year Old Single Malt, to win its Double Gold Medal. Using malts aged at least 21 years, the Antiquary 21 Years Old is an exclusive blend of Speyside and Highland malt with a splash of Islay and the fragrance of Lowland grains, creating a sophisticated and full-bodied dram.
I have posted some tasting notes for the above award winning whiskies in the tasting notes section of the forum.
