|
|
anCnoc has unveiled the second in the series of Limited Edition releases from its collaboration with internationally renowned Scottish illustrator, Peter Arkle.
The partnership launched in April this year, and has seen Arkle develop an exclusive range of limited edition designs for anCnoc; each based on a unique aspect of Knockdhu Distillery, home of the single malt in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
This 2nd edition was matured in American and Spanish oak sherry barrels, it is a refreshingly light dram, which is reflected in its soft colour and amber highlights. Spicy vanilla and rich coffee aromas are followed by fresh lemons, cooked green apples and just a hint a coconut, allowing for a sweet, warm and spicy taste.
Non chill-filtered, natural colour and bottled at 46% ABV RRP £49.99
More info here and a excellent video showing the process Peter Arkle uses to create his designs and it gives you a good look at the Knockdhu distillery. The video is 16 minutes long so you may want to pour yourself a dram while you sit back and watch it. You wil find it here:

I bought a couple of bottles of the 1st Peter Arkle, kept one and drunk one and it was very good indeed.
William do you know how limited this 2nd release is, the 1st was 6000 bottles so i am guessing it will be the same. |

Archer it doesnt mention bottle numbers in the info i received but i would assume it will be around the same as the first release. I have asked about the numbers and will let you know when i hear back from anCnoc.
Incidentally the 1st edition Peter Arkle was very good and different as it was the first anCnoc release which was 100% matured in Spanish sherry casks. Not sure how much of this 2nd release came from sherry casks. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

The only one available from this distilley sold in Ontario is ANCNOC 12 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY. How does it compare to the Peter Arkle one? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

How does it compare to the Peter Arkle one? | I can highly recommend the anCnoc 12, quite a complex whiisky for such a light whisky. It is a very easy to drink light, medium sweet, fruity, malty, oaky, vanilla, a touch of spice. If you enjoy Auchentoshan 12, Glengoyne 10, Glen Grant then you will like the anCnoc 12. No big in your face notes with the anCnoc 12 but still a complex and easy to drink quality dram.
The Peter Arkle Edition No1 was 100% matured in sherry casks and No2 is a combination of sherry and bourbon casks, so you can imagine the sherry stands out in both of these, especailly the Peter Arkle Edition No1, the complex notes which you get in the anCnoc 12 are still there also once you get past the spicy fruit cake sherry. _________________ There's no bad whisky. | I do like the anCnoc 12 and 16. I hadnt heard of the Peter Arkle series before reading this post, i guess that is because it was only available in Royal Mile Whiskies. Any idea of the ages of the whisky that is in these, they are not full of young whisky are they. For me young whisky can be interesting when it is a big smoky/peaty dram but not so good for a burbon or sherry cask matured whisky. |

The 16yo is excellent.
Whilst at the distillery in March I tasted the new 35yo and it was sensational. Shame it's over £200 |
