Just been to a craft fair. One of the sellers was www.wooduwritewith.co.uk (tel 07973 700112) (email browncard@wooduwritewith.co.uk). Andrew, who owns the business, specialises in hand-made, wood turned pens. His products are beautiful.
I asked if he could make a whisky barrel pen for me. Andrew confirmed that, as luck would have it, he's getting staves/barrels in for Macallan, Highland Park and Laphroaig.
Each pen will (in the style that I want) be about £20. There will be about a 2-3 week turnaround and the origin of the wood will be on the accompanying certificate. He accepts card, Paypal and cheque.
I've always wanted a pen hand-made from a whisky barrel. For me, getting one from a named 'top' distillery will be the icing on the cake.
Just thought that I'd share, in case anyone on the forum wanted one for themselves or as a present. |

| As a retired whisky worker & wood turner I make pens for ex workmates from oak staves from the bottom of an old Mortlach intermediate receiver, with a bit of luck capturing the discolouration of the wood where the spirit has been in contact. with the oak . Sorry they are not for sale Bodger |
