|
|
My congratulations to Great Britain for the 2012 Olympics in London. I will continue my tradition of asking members what they are dramming to celebrate memorable world events, now the Olympics. My choice for the opening ceremonies (watching from Canada) has been Lagavulin 16. How about you?
Can't access Olympic rings so here's more smiling faces.... _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Just had an Old Pulteney 12 and now a Laphroaig 10.
Who knows what's next possibly an Ardbeg Ugi or a SMWS bottling. |

Unless you're in the know already you chanced on the perfect dram I think! Danny Boyle was made director of the opening ceremony and according to a snippet of trivia I found on t'Interwebs:
| Quote: | | In Danny Boyle's 2002 horror film 28 Days Later, before escaping London, the survivors of the zombie plague help themselves to supplies at an abandoned grocery store, including an ample supply of whisky. Although one does not see the Lagavulin label, the packaging is consistent with Lagavulin and the character Frank reads the text found on the 16-year Lagavulin bottle, including that it "Takes Out the Fire but Leaves in the Warmth." |

It was pure chance that I selected the Lagavulin. What a neat coincidence. Thanks much for the segue to Danny Boyle. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I did have some Laga 16 myself actually! with Old Pulteney 21 and SMWS Bowmore 15YO
Not quite the perfection and technical brilliance of Beijing but naturally the best by far, and Kenneth Brannagh to boot! _________________ In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king |

Watching beach volley ball at the Olympics on TV. I enjoyed Caperdonach Over 11 years and Cragganmore 12. After that I was ready to play a set myself. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Watched Andy Murray win his opening singles match and the young Scottish lightweight boxer Josh Taylor win today. It was a little early to have a drink though. |

Yes, that was the beach volley ball which they play in bikinis. It was on again today and
I had some Dalwhinnie 15 while watching it. It's a big sport during the year as well. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Watching my Canadian women's soccer Olympic team on TV up 1-0 to the USA at halftime. I hope we can do it and win and go to the final against Japan. Had Glenmorangie Lasanta during the first half and contemplating my next dram....
