Ballantine's have launched its most exclusive blended Scotch whisky to date, the Ballantine's 40 Year Old,

A permanent expression within Ballantine's award-winning range, only 100 bottles of this extremely rare whisky will be released globally each year. Individually numbered bottles will be priced at a minimum £4500/US$7,000

For more info and a tasting note see link below, unfrotunately not my tasting note but if the Ballantines 30 year old which i have had the pleasure of is anything to go by i would guess that this will be very good.

Quite a jump in price from the Ballantines 30 to the Ballantines 40. Have to say the Ballantines 30 is outstanding, far superior to the 17 which Jim Murray brought to everyones attention a couple of years ago. Sadly the the new Ballantines 40 is out of my price range but i am sure it will be a cracker if the the 30 is anything to go by.
