Greetings from the states!
I loooooooooovvvvvveeeee peat like no other, I am wondering what you guys would consider the peatiest single malt there is? Possibly also the peatiest blend ( sorry to cross categories)
Some of the scotches I like are
Lagavulin 16, Laphroig 10, & Caol Ila 12, Talisker 10
My favorite of all time though is Ledaig 10!
I appreciate it a lot, I look forward to hearing any replies! _________________ Sincerely,

Hi Clark,
Well, for a real peat kick, I usually go for Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig Quarter Cask. I recently went for some drams in Toronto and enjoyed Ardbeg 27 and Ardbeg 32 years. The peat is more complex and layered in these last 2 drams and wonderful though opportunities to try them don't come every day nor do the deep pockets to afford them. I do love Lagavulin 16 as my reliable peat fix.

Hi Clark and welcome to the SMW forum.
In general the peatiest Scotch single malts come from Islay, more specifically the southern distilleries on Islay tend to be the peatiest., these are - Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Port Ellen.
When i am in the mood for a big peaty whisky i would reach for these - Ardbeg 10, Ardbeg Corryvreckan, Laphroaig 10, Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Lagavulin 16 and Lagavulin 12 (which is an an annual liimited special release). There is also Port Ellen which is now closed, you can still buy whisky from Port Ellen but it tends to be very expensive although it is very good and highly rated by many whisky drinkers.
There is Port Charlotte whisky, which is the name for the heavily peated whisky made by Bruichladdich distillery. I currently have a bottle of Port Charlotte PC8 Ar Duthchas which is outstanding or there is the Port Charlotte An Turas Mor which is a multi vintage vatting which was bottled at 46% rather than cask strength like the other bottles in the PC series.
You may also like Jura Prophecy.
There are a few blended malts which are pretty good, such as Big Peat and Clan Denny which are bottled by independent bottler Douglas Laing and both are a blend of Islay whiskies. There is also P{eat Monster from Compass Box.
As far as blends go, i would say there are not really any peat monster blends but there are a few decent blends which give you a hit of peat for a decent price. I enjoy Black Bottle, Islay Mist, Johnnie Walker Double Black, |

Keith your last post on this thread was a great commentary on Islay single malts and hit the nail on the head. Great!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I will be trying Laphroaig Quarter Cask tonight!
I drink it straight usually, but peaty scotches add a delicate flavor to Rob Roys as well _________________ Sincerely,
