I really enjoy port cask matured and port cask finished whisky such as Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Balvenie Portwood, Cragganmore Distillers Edition, Glendronach 15 Tawny Port Finish.
There isnt a great deal of port cask whisky to choose from. If anyone knows of anymore i could try, let me know. I would love to try a peaty whisky which has been port cask matured or finished so if anyone knows of any i would love to know about them.
Cheers, Kray |

| A few years ago Bowmore done the Bowmore Voyage which was port finished but i cant say that i know any other peaty/smoky Islay that have done port finish whisky, it is a pity as the peat and port do go together IMO. |

| Kray you may like the Benriach 12 Importanticus Fumosus which is peated and has been finished in port casks and it is excellent IMO. It doesnt have a big port influence the peat is the big note in this one but the port does show through. Benriach also do a 15 year old Tawny Port Wood Finish, i havent tried this yet so not sure how much peat and port influence you will find in this. |

The Benriach 17 Solstice is peated and port finished. Benriach also have some older single cask bottling which are peated and port cask finished in fact they recently released a BenRrach 1984 27 year old peated tawny port finish, some details here www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/benriachsinglecaskaug2012.htm _________________ There's no bad whisky. The Benriach bottlings sound interesting, just checked them out on TWE and they are a decent price. I think i will add a bottle of the Benriach 12 Importanticus Fumosus to my next online order.

| Not sure why we dont see more port cask whisky, perhaps ithere is a lack of available port casks, perhaps the casks are expensive or maybe the port cask doesnt compliment many whiskies, whatever it is it is a pity we dont see more. It would be nice to see one of the big peated Islay whiskies doing a port cask matured whisky. |
