I am heading off on my summer holidays in a few weeks and i usually take the chance to stock up on a few bottles which i collect on my return as normally travel retail offers some good prices and often 1 litre bottles.
Just been having a browse throught the World of Whiskies website to plan ahead what i will pick up at the airport but i have to say the good deals are a lot less than they used to be.
For example a bottle of Balvenie 21 Port Wood is £120 now this is only £86.95 at The Whisky Exchange
I always stocked up on Ardbeg at the airport as it always offered great value but not so great now - Ardbeg 10 1 litre £46.99, i am positive i only paid £38 for this a few months ago at WoW.
Anyway looks like a lot of the travel retail prices at WoW is pretty much the same as high street prices |

| I have noticed that there has been a considerable increase in prices on a number of whiskies at World of Whiskies stores and there isnt such a good selection as there once was. Notably they have a lack of Diageo produced malts for example they only have Talisker 10, no 57 North or Distillers Edition, no Lagavulin either |

I know the selection at Glasgow airport is lacking these days. |

Actually, the prices are higher in Canada. Ardbeg 10 is a $100 for a 750ml bottle. Not cheap. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| You used to be able to rely on the airport for a bargain but it isnt always the case now, many of the prices in travel retail are not much different from the high street or online shopping prices. They will always have good offers and promotions, just your luck if they are to your taste. |

| I noticed that the Glenlivet prices have shot up at World of Whiskies, last year they had the Glenlivet 21 for £54 it is now £92.99 according to the WoW web site, pity as i would have picked up a bottle later this month when i pass through the airport. |

Totally agree, in the last month or so prices at WoW have rocketed and i have noticed that they have also removed many bottles from the shelves in Glasgow airport such as Ardbeg Uigeadail and Corryvreckan and increased the price of the Ardbeg 10 to £46.99 from £38. There is also a distinct lack of Diageo produced whiskies. Another example i noticed is the Glenlivet bottlings - the Glenlivet 21 shot up from just over £50 to £92, the Glenlivet 18 is now £51.99.
Many bottles went up by at least £5 over the last couple of months. They may be shooting themselves in the foot here with this new pricing _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Aargh! After missing out on WoW, I've missed out on the Sainsburys Ballantine's offer too. Went to my local store but they didn't stock it. No worries I thought, found a sign up voucher to get £10 off first online order, only to search for the Ballantine's and find it gone - was only looking at it 2 hours ago! Bad day! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Got the finger out and bagged a couple from Edinburgh Blackhall today. From phoning round, this one and the Straiton one seem to have the widest whisky stock range. As for WoW I think I'll pass and see what like the airport shop is on the way back, coming through Barcelona?
Edit: Think we're coming through T2 and there's an Aldeasa, looks like they are running a promotion on the Dalmore 15 1l for €42.40 or roughly £34, pretty good! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Just back! Bagged this baby. A daunting prospect yes, but a bargain compared with WoW! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."
