I had the privilege of trying the BA3 pre-release at the Whisky Fringe '12 and albo subsequently bought a bottle of which he generously shared a 50cl mini. The new release is out and it too sounds stellar:

The only issue for me is the £195 price tag! That's a full £100 mark up on last year's, which was 22 years old so, prima facie, age alone can't explain this. I appreciate it may contain more older whisky than BA3 but, once again, my ghast is truly flabbered. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Bruichladdiich have been going through a bit of restructuring since Remy bought them and have a few new whiskies that have just been released.
Bruichladdich Scottish Barley £42
Bruichladdich Islay Barley £45
Port Charlotte Scottish Barley £45
Octomore 6.1 £85
Bruichladdich Black Art 4 £195
I havent much more info on them so not sure how they stand in the Bruichladdich range and if any current bottlings will be discontinued. i used to get updates from Mark Reynier when there was anything new at Bruichladdich, i need to contact Remy Cointreau to find out what is happening.
They seem to be following the current trend for rising prices and no age statement. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Yes, I saw those in the RMW mailshot. I just assumed they are limited releases but, if you follow the links, it seems the Laddie Scottish Barley at least is a new core range bottling. I find it amazing that they can charge £35 for a 10 year old and yet more for a NAS. Is this why Asda were flogging the 10 off for £20? _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

The Black Art whiskies have been superb but i think they are pushing it a bit with the price. |

I initially thought this was rather expensive and given I picked up a bottle of the black art 3 for £95 I'm in a fair place to make that statement. However, if you price this a similar age to the recent Bowmore 'limited' release, is it really over priced? Or a relative bargain?
Whisky pricing, if you'll excuse my forwardness here, is taking the *** across the board now. The more of this that goes on the less and less OB whisky I can see myself drinking other than supermarket discounts. IBs all the way for me. Whisky Broker,SMWS and the like. |

| Looks like Remy are perhaps revamping and repricing the Laddie range. I dont think the pricing is any different from the way other big brands are going. The whisky companies seem to know that enough people will be willing to pay more whether be entry levl whiskies or top of the range. |
