This is one handful of a dram so come ready to rumble....
Neat-
Nose: Iodine, deep peat, embedded stewed rhubarb, spice.
Palate: Intense peat, spice, white pepper, hint of ginger.
Finish: Lingering, white pepper,. iodine, medicinal.
With Water-
Nose: Wonderful cinnamon stick full tilt, sea breeze, a touch of orange zest and marmelade.
Palate: Spice, ginger, peat, white pepper.
Finish: Lingering, white pepper, light waves of cinnamon.
Even more water, added wet hay to the nose, camphor to the palate and cloves to the finish.

To my shame I have to admit I've not tried this one yet, but it won't be long I'm sure. Sounds braw! I find Islays don't always take water very well, how does this shape up?

Water seems to unravel the complexity of the liquid ball of wool and smoothes it out in an appealing fashion.

| For value for money the Quarter Cask is among my favourite big peaty whiskies, i do miss the Laphroaig 15 though |
