Wow, what a pleasant surprise. This is no wimpy blended whisky. It has umph, intensity and a range of flavors not unlike single malt scotch. I can now see why The Famous Red Grouse sells so well, particularly in Scotland and here in Canada. I generally go for single malt scotch but I certainly would not thumb my nose at this dram. It makes the mark. Your opinions?

Very Happy

The Famous Grouse has never been my choice of blend, it is ok. Having said that i do like the Black Grouse with its touch of smoke

Jim Murray gives it 89 but, as I've complained before, I think his marks for some of the regular blends are too high, even ones that I'm fond of such as Teacher's (90). I'm not a big fan of the standard Grouse, Black Grouse is nice enough though.

I've never actually had The Famous Grouse - in fact I've had very few blends overall. Not necessarily by design but there are so many single malts I still want to try, I'd rather spend money on a single malt that's new to me as opposed to a blend.
