Just read an article indicating that the Liquor Control Board of Ontario which sells Single Malt Scotch here and other alcoholic beverages posted record sales of 4.7 billion dollars.....Wow! The article link is posted below.

Interesting that they say "Net sales growth resulted from consumers trading up to premium products" another indication of the surge in popularity of premium drinks such as single malt whiskies

I have always liked the Canadian system of government run stores where the profits can go back into the country, and that is a whole lot of profit. Got to wonder though, with no competition on pricing is there maybe too much profit being made.
I believe the sales and prices of premium spirits such as single malt whisky and craft beers are rising in most markets even given the economic climate. The popularity of whisky has had its ups and downs over the years but i dont think there has ever been a time with such an increase in the premium single malt whiskies.
