The Glenlivet is to release a series of rare expressions as part of its Single Cask Editions range, highlighting the subtle, complex and elegant style of The Glenlivet. The new range will include:

The Glenlivet Guardians Single Cask Edition, which was hand-selected by members of The Glenlivet Guardians - the brands online community - at an exclusive event in London in 2011. This 18 Year Old expression, aged in a second-fill sherry butt filled on 18th December 1992, is non chill-filtered and bottled at 55.7% ABV cask strength. Just 631 bottles will be available exclusively to purchase or sample at VIP Guardian events.

The Glenlivet Helios Single Cask Edition, named to signify the importance of the sun in production at the Speyside distillery, is a 20 Year Old non chill-filtered single malt aged in a second-fill hogshead cask, that was filled on 9th May 1991. Bottled at 50.7% cask strength, just 307 bottles made available with markets including the UK.

The Glenlivet Josie Single Cask Edition takes its name from the distillery's infamous underground spring. The 17 Year Old non chill-filtered whisky was aged in a first-fill ex-sherry butt in European oak, that was filled on 6th July 1994. Bottled at 57.5% ABV cask strength, just 464 bottles of The Glenlivet Josie Single Cask Edition made available with markets including the UK.

The Glenlivet Inveravon Single Cask Edition takes its name from a mountainous moorland parish in the Glenlivet. The 21 Year Old non chill-filtered whisky was aged in a first-fill American oak barrel, that was filled on 24th April 1990. Bottled at 54.6% ABV cask strength, just 204 bottles will be exclusively available in Taiwan.

The Glenlivet Kilimanjaro Single Cask Edition is a 15 Year Old whisky aged in a second-fill hogshead cask and bottled at 58.2% ABV. Just 232 bottles of this expression will be available exclusively at selected outlets in Germany.

The Glenlivet Legacy Single Cask Edition is a 16 Year Old whisky aged in a first fill barrel and bottled at 52.8% ABV. Just 198 bottles of this expression will be available exclusively at selected outlets in Germany.

I have booked the library room for when I am up for the whisky festival next month at Glenlivet and asked about how to buy this bottle, answer is below.

If you are a Glenlivet Guardian, you should receive an email at the start of next month with the details of how to buy one.

They did mention an online whisky shop but I think more will be selling it.
Cheers

The Glenlivet Guardians Single Cask Edition is one i want to get a hold of. I guess it will only be one bottle per person, hopefully they follow the Balvenies example with the pricing off it as Balvenies recent Warehose 24 members bottle was a decent price.

I think i would give it a miss if this was to be the price. To me members bottles are for drinking and should be a sold to members at a drinkable price if that makes any sense. £150 for a 18 year old wouldnt be drinkable price but more a collectable price and even at that it would be pushing it. Hopefully it will be a sensible price.

I was lucky enough to win the Guardians recent competition to win a pair of tickets to both days of whisky live and a bottle of the guardians single cask signed by Ian Logan.
I was really impressed by the guardians bottling on trying it at whisky live and have put the bottle to the back of the cupboard for a special occasion.
Oh and what a great prize overall.

I dont have the exact price for The Glenlivet Guardians Single Cask Edition but i have been told it will have an RRP of £150 and it will be available in May 2012, Guardians will receive an email and there will be an online option to purchase the bottle.

Not sure if there will be any more Guardian exclusive bottles in this alphabetised single cask series of expressions from the Glenlivet which began in 2005 but there may well be as they are only up to the letter "L". The list of bottlings so far are:
    Glenlivet Atlantic
    Glenlivet Blairfindy
    Glenlivet Cairn Daimh
    Glenlivet Drumin
    Glenlivet Eclipse
    Glenlivet Faemussach
    Glenlivet Guardians
    Glenlivet Helios
    Glenlivet Inveravon (exclusive to Taiwan)
    Glenlivet Josie
    Glenlivet Kilimanjaro (exclusive to Germany)
    Glenlivet Legacy (exclusive to Germany)

I think they could have dropped the price of the Glenlivet Guardians bottling but i am sure they will find enough buyers out of there 100,000 Glenlivet Guardians members. I would have thought that it would have been a good gesture to give there members a unique bottle at a drinkable price as a thank you for supporting the Glenlivet brand. A poor show from the Glenlivet IMHO

I am going to the Whisky Fest London this afternoon, I will try and see if I can get any more info, it will be out of my range I'm afriad if the price is £150.00 , which is a shame because I liked it, I will try and get a few tastings as Glenlivet are there and report back tomorrow with any information.
