| My future grandfather in law has a lovely bottle of Canadian whisky. His relative told him that you can only get it on that side if the pond. I couldn't believe that was true in the age of internet shopping. So I had a look and... Nothing. I couldn't even find it for sale on the Internet in CANADA let alone a UK website. Any ideas? |

Rab it is more common than you would think even in the age of internet shopping for whiskies to only be available in the country they were produced in. What is the bottle your grandfather in law has?
An example of a Canadian whisky which will only be available in Cananda is the new Alberta Premium 30 Year Old Limited Edition which will be released in June 2011 and will only be available in Ontario, British Columbia (in July), Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan at a retail price of Can $49.95 / 750 mL bottle. It is a rye whisky and a fantastic price for a 30 year old.
For those not familiar with this brand, the Alberta Premium has been awarded "Canadian Whisky of the Year" by Murray in his 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Whisky Bibles but AFAIK we never see the brand here in the UK and this new 30 year old unfortunately wont be available outside Canada. |

rab you wont find any whisky for sale on the internet in Canada AFAIK, all alcohol sales in Canada are strictly controlled and you can only buy it from government run stores. They do have a website listing their whisky www.lcbo.com/products/index.shtml
What is the whisky rab?
William, I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a bottle of the Alberta Premium 30 for $49.95, that is only about £32 |

i dont know how you get your info William but thanks for mentioning the new Alberta Premium 30, this is the first i have heard of it, i will look out for it.
I dont know if Alberta is seen outside Canada but Jim Murray certainly brought the worlds attention to it. It isnt an expensive whisky. It is a smooth and mellow juicy rye whisky. Worth a try if you ever get the chance. |

I have never tried Alberta, in fact i have never seen it here in the UK but i would guess if the likes of Jim Murray continues to rate it so highly we may see it here in the future. |
