Hi everyone,
Not much to say about Canadian Malts,
a) because for whatever reason, almost single malts go direct into blends for which Seagrams are well known, together with Canadian Club and Crown Royal.
The only Canadian single dram I every had was from the Cadenhead stable and I didn't like it, come to think of it, I poured it out ! Embarassed
Keep trying Canada ! !
Rene

I always found it odd why the Canadians have virtually no single malts. I regularly visit family and friends in Canada and they all know i have a taste for whisky, most think they are offering you a special whisky when they give you a Crown Royal, you wouldnt believe how many Crown Royals and Canadian Clubs i have had to smile and drink when visiting. At least i havent had one that has been that bad i have had to pour it out, like the one you mentioned Rene.

Apparently the only single malt Canadian whisky is Glen Breton Rare 10. It wasnt released until 2003. I assume they will have other types in the future.

Being from Canada I understand. To the occasional whisky drinker Crown Royal is considered the smooth stuff. To us its obviously nothing special....my father just liked getting them because of the purple bag that comes with it...hahaha. I think the label got big from the U.S. liking it. I noted in my visits in America, Crown Royal is expensive. Personally I think CR is better than most of the American whiskys of the same caliber.

For Canadian Club, that is an embarrassment and I dont understand how it got so popular with their slogan "served in 151 countries". Its the worse drink I have ever consumed.

More Canadians like myself have more than a few single malt scotches at home now. Times are a changing.
