Glenfiddich is kicking off the celebrations of its 125th anniversary, with the launch of its limited edition Cask of Dreams bottling in the USA.

The whisky is the culmination of Glenfiddich's 2011 Cask of Dreams campaign, which saw them take eleven casks round major cities of the US and let whisky lovers inscribe them with their dreams and aspirations.

The virgin oak casks were then returned to the Dufftown distillery where they were filled with a hand picked selection of malts of 14 years or more, all aged in American oak, according to the Bartender Magazine blog.

Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman said: "When these signed casks were brought to the distillery straight from the streets of U.S. cities, it became clear to me that this Cask of Dreams expression would be a true tribute to the cask and all that it embodies: promise and potential, and the power to transform and fulfill"sentiments echoed in the thousands of inscriptions of yet-unfulfilled hopes and dreams.

"These eleven casks fulfilled our goal of pioneering an entirely new way to conceive of the whisky-making process, resulting in a fine non-age single malt that will return home to America to help realize the ambitions of others. I can conceive of no finer way to launch Glenfiddich's 125th anniversary year of achievement."?

The whisky is limited to 3,500 bottles which will retail at $99 each.

The very American marketing (apologies to our US members no offence meant) behind this makes me cringe but it may well be a very good whisky behind the marketing

The thing is this marketing does sell and i am sure this bottle will become collectable and sought after in the future and with it priced at $99 it should sell out pretty quickly.

Following the release of their "Cask of Dreams' bottling for the USA, Glenfiddich Distillery are (literally) rolling out the same promotion in Canada.

As part of their "One Day You Will"? campaign, 20 whisky casks will be rolled through 10 Canadian cities to be inscribed by the Canadian public with their aspirations and dreams. The casks will then return to Dufftown, Scotland and used to finish the new, limited edition single malt for a minimum of three months.

In a media release, brand manager Beth-Anne Perry, said: "When you write your dream on these casks, you're not only sharing a piece of yourself with Canada, but you become a part of Glenfiddich's long-running history. The dreams of Scottish pioneers are what shaped Glenfiddich and we can't wait to bring Canada's dreams back to Dufftown."?

The official roll-out began on Burns' Night in Winnipeg as part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Selkirk Settlement. From March, the casks will be rolled out in another city every week finishing in Vancouver on 26 April.
