Hi everyone. I have a bottle of single malt that has been hidden away at the back of my cupboard for years. Can anyone offer some advice on whether to 'crack' this open or sell it. The details on the label are:

Murray McDavid
Speyside single malt
Scotch whiskey from MACALLAN-GLENLIVET DISTILLERY Distilled in 1972
Cask Ref:MM2729
Distilled October 1972
Bottled: August 1998
Cask Type: Fresh Sherry

Any help would be appreciated.

Invernessdude.

I think it may fetch up to £200 at auction, only you can decide if this is worth it. Personally i would open it

Any idea where and how I would go about putting this up for auction or sale? Do you know if anywhere who might buy it as a bottle at this price would just be wasted on me.

Thanks.

There are a few options for selling, you could try the following:

Mctears auctioneers www.mctears.co.uk
Bonhams auctioneers www.bonhams.com/eur/whisky/
Scotch Whisky Auctions www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com/

Sometimes ebay can be the most profitable place to sell whisky

Macallan usually does well on ebay, you may get a couple of Macallan whisky enthusiasts in a bidding war over it.
