Two new malts due from Arran Distillery
First up in March is the fourth and final instalment of their Icons of Arran series. The Eagle is bottled from a selection of casks from their 1999 vintage and bottled at 46% without chill filtering. Limited release of 6,000 bottles.

Then in May, the distillery is due to release the Devil's Punchbowl, a limited edition release intended to highlight the skills of Master Distiller and Blender James MacTaggart.

Created from a vatting of their oldest and finest casks, the Devil's Punchbowl will again be bottled at cask strength and limited to 6,000 bottles

Hopefully the Icons of Arran The Eagle matches the quality of the Peacock, the Westie was pretty good but the Rowan tree was not so great. I wish i had kept a bottle of each whisky in the series now as i imagine they will be quite collectable in the future

I think there should be a few bottles of the Rowan Tree kicking around the specialist whisky shops still for its original price.

I saw on Arrans website recently that they are constructing another storage warehouse at the distillery, pleased to see things going well for Arran they have produced a decent single malt and i thought there pricing was good for there releases in the early years when they were establishing themselves. Some of the newer distilleries that have came after Arran could learn from them.

The Eagle Has Landed

* Limited Edition of 6,000 bottles worldwide

* 14 Ex-Bourbon Barrels

* 7 Ex-Sherry Hogsheads

* Stunning Packaging

* Much anticipated final release from the highly collectable Icons of Arran Series

* Bottles at 46% abv

* Non chill-filtered

* No Added Colouring

Tasting Notes
Nose Tropical fruit salad with hints of vanilla pod and caramel coated hazelnuts
Palate Buttery lemon drizzle cask - sweet but with a fresh citrus burst
Finish Captivating combination of fresh fruit and the natural sweetness of honey. Sit back, relax and let the final Icon send you palate soaring like an Eagle across to the Isle of Arran.

The good thing is that the Eagle is a 6000 bottle release so if it turns out to be as good as the Peacock you should still be able to get hold of some more before it sells out.

I just saw a bottle of the Arran Peacock on ebay with a starting bid of £149.99, no bids yet which is not a surprise as it is a good and collectable whisky but not worth that much IMO. Only 12 hours to go in the auction but it will be interesting to see if anybody bids at this price.
