The oldest bottle in my collection is a Cowies Blue Seal dated 1890-1910 by Martin Green in 1996.
The Cowies Blue Seal Whisky is believed to have been bottled for George Cowie
the then owner of Mortlach Distillery and believed to be the only one remaining.
Any further information would be gratefully appreciated.

| I cant add anything to what you already know. Certainly a very interesting bottle, have you ever had it valued? |

I met with M Green in 1996 and was told then that it should easily fetch up to £1000 but because there was nothing to compare it with in other auctions the only way to get a true value would be for me to put it up for auction, I have not a clue what it would be worth today. Since retiring I have been selling some of my collection on ebay, so some day soon my Cowies Blue Seal may end up there too.

| I would think it is worth considerably more now-a-days. Difficult to put an estimate on but i would guess its age and the story behind it would generate a lot of interest from collectors. I would cetainly contact McTears and Bonhams whisky auctions before putting it on ebay. |

The oldest i have at the moment is a Glenfarclas 1955 and the oldest i have had is a Macallan Speymalt 1938 65 year old which was a absolutely superb dram which i savoured every drop of.
Hogshead if you could get some confimation of the origins of this bottle and dates i think it could fetch much more than £1000. Have you tried contacting Mortlach distillery to see if they have any archive records of such bottles being bottled for the Cowies own personal supply. Perhaps even Diageo would be interested in purchasing this bottle. |

| The oldest I had was a bottle of 40 year old Longmorn Glenlivet 1963, which I opened for my 40th birthday a few years back. One of the best I've ever tasted. Only got the empty bottle to remind me! |
