Hi all,
Just an update about how the Whisky sale went. The 100 lot section of whisky took just over £10,000, with every lot offered selling.

Stars of the day were the Macallan Blue Label 30 Year Old with a hammer price of £650. The Port Ellen First Annual Release was not far behind at £550. The Macallan Gran Reserva also proved popular at £400.

A bottle I though may do better was a bottle of The Three Arches. It was early 20th century, maybe 100 years old, and only made £150. Again it just goes to show that its name name name, if this had been a Macallan the price would have ben astronomical. None the less, the buyer was very happy with the bottle!

Miniatures proved popular, and I can almost guarantee that they will all appear on eBay in the coming months. I wonder how long eBay will allow the sale of alcohol, I am sure its days are numbered:Maybe auctions will be more popular with the private buyers. Saying that, the saleroom was full of fresh faces and the internet bidding was quite active.

Going to the Bowmores the1968 distillation made £400 and the Bicentenary bottle made a whopping £600. As ever, there were pleny of bottles of Dimple! What was wrong with this Whisky that meant nobody ever drank the stuff! I see 2-3 bottles a week at work! The spring cap bottle made £70, and three later bottles made £70 between them.

So that's is for 2011, the next sale is on the 25th February 2012. Plenty more coming in, but potentially a smaller sale than the last two with Jan and Feb being quite months for people considering selling alcohol (but plenty of people die in the cold weather which brings plenty of collections to the market - a macabre fact of auctions for you!).

I hope you all enjoyed it and will see you next time!
