Last night I attended my single malt club's tasting and dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada the last one before the New Year.

The following drams were presented and tasted:

Arran Port Cask, 8 years in bourbon barrel then finished for months in port cask., 50% ABV

Cadenhead Ord, 13 Year 2005, One bourbon hogshead specially selected for Order of the Companions of the Quaich , 55.1% ABV, 294 bottles...... I did the presentation to the attendees on this one.

Ileach Cask Strength 58% ABV.

How was the Ileach? I thought it had lost the quality it had a few years back so I haven't bought a bottle in some time. Cadenhead bottlings rarely fail to please, I hope the Ord was a good one.

Hi Fergie. The Ileach was actually quite good. It had what I would consider Caol Ila reminiscences. The Cadenhead was stellar.

That's good to hear, the Ileach used to be a regular pour for me but I thought it had gotten a bit too rough in recent years, perhaps bottling it far too young. Good value when it is good though.
