A big congratulations to Old Pulteney as this is very well deserved indeed, i expect demand for the Old Pulteney 21 to shoot up now so if you havent tried it you better get it quick. Read Old Pulteneys reaction to recieve the top whisky award here:

I noticed that they have sold out of the Old Pulteney 21 over at The Whisky Exchange already but i would guess they will be getting a load in as soon as they can.

Well deserved, I am sure this will boost interest in Old Pulteney, not just the 21 year but also the 17 and 12.

I noticed that the 2012 Whisky Bible is sold out already over at Amazon. Never mind at least i know what the big winners are now.

Good to see the Highland Park 25 year old get a mention as it is excellent and normally it is the HP 18 and HP 30 that gets allt the praise.

Good to see one of the smaller whisky companies picking up the top award and well deserved the Old Pulteney 21 is a great dram and so is the 17 year old for that matter.

How small really is Old Pulteney? The 12 year-old is pretty standard in most supermarkets, and at very good prices too. So it's not like they lack exposure.like the various reports make it out.

Pulteney doesnt have an enormous output, according to the Malt Whisky Yearbook it has an output of 1,500,000 litres which is not huge. It also says it launched the 21 year old in 2005 with only 3000 bottles, not sure if there would have been an annual release of the 21 since 2005 but if there was i wouldnt think that it would have been much more than 3000 bottles per year. The brand is generally well known in the UK by whisky enthusiasts because you can always find the 12 year old in the big supermarkets but i think an award like this will make other markets interested in the brand and highlight it to occassional drinkers and even gift buyers.

William, I am sure the difference between batch releases of the Old Pulteney 21 will be negligible but i noticed you have posted a picture of a green tube for the Old Pulteney 21

I take it that the green tube is new packaging as i am only familiar with the gold tube for the OP 21, my point is was it the whisky in the new green tube packaging that Mr Murray named as World Whisky of the Year 2012

Your right Crane the green tube is the new updated packaging for the Old Pulteney 21.

I see that the Old Pulteney 21 is sold out already in The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt and Whisky Online, it shows the influence Jim Murrays Whisky Bible has.

Its good to see one that i can afford to drink picking up the top award. Laughing

I hope it doesnt bump up the price but i wouldnt be surprised considering it is out of stock everywhere since this was announced.
