My friend gave me this bottle a while back , he used to work for clan Campbell in Kilwinning which was bought out by chivas part of pernod ricard , the bottling plant was closed and moved to Paisley chivas, the bottle has a label on the back stating that it is bottle no 184 of 340 of the last bottles ever run off the lines at Kilwinning and were given as a thanks to the workers . I was just curious if it may be worth anything more than just a bottle of aberlour 10 yr old and sentimental value as it was bottled in my home town . It is a shame that our local industries have gone to the dogs !!

| It would be my guess that it would worth more than a standard bottle of Aberlour 10, i dont think it would have appreciated a great deal since you got it but definitely one to hold on to. If i was to guess a value for a private sale just now i would say £40 - £60 |

I didnt realise that they also bottled Aberlour at Clan Campbell in Kilwinning, i assumed it was only the Clan Campbell blend as well as the House of Campbell Blend and House of Lords Blend.
I take it they still bottle the Clan Campbell blend, its years since i saw a bottle of it anywhere. |

I'm pretty sure they still bottle the clan Campbell at the chivas plant in Paisley or they did , I will check that out to make sure , you probably don't see as much of it here as I think it was more popular abroad.
I think they only bottled the aberlour there for 2 or 3 years after the take over by pernod ricard . I probably still have a few different aged clan campbells in the cupboard bottled in Kilwinning , I miss it not being there now , I used to get some great deals ( legally ) as I knew a few people that worked there .

Didnt Clan Campbell at one point give the whisky names, i recall the Clan Campbell Legendary 18 year old and Highlander 12 year old.
They definitely still bottle it but i couldnt tell you where since they shut down the Kilwinning plant.
That was handy Alan, being able to get some good deals, i'm sure you do miss it.
It is a big seller in France i believe, appropriate as it is owned by the French company Pernod Ricard. In 2010 it was the 21st best selling whisky in the world according to the 2010 Power 100

Your right about France , i think it was one of the best selling whiskys even before pernod bought it , yes they did have names such as the highlander and legendary , I will speak to my friend today and get some more information on this, they also did duke of argyll in a gold pot still decanter 15 yr old (my first post). They also sold highlander in a highlander shaped decanter which I had two of ,sadly only one remains (rescued from a skip onsite during a clear out ,empty though!) they also bottled the abunadh here I think when it was originally released. Some of the workers used to sell off their Christmas hampers during the summer for £80 . It was a great buy as you got no less than 8 bottles of spirits and six bottles of wine usually Jacobs creek as pernod own them aswell , the spirits included aberlour 10 , Altai vodka, wild turkey, Cuban rum , clan Campbell , bushmills , jamiesons and abunadh so yes I do miss the bottling plant! But I now get some good deals from chivas now but no hampers. I will post some more info on clan Campbell after I speak to my friend.

Hi John they still do the clan Campbell up in Paisley ( chivas ) ,aberlour and abunadh are bottled in Dumbarton at Ballantines bottling plant. Kilwinning used to run the clan Campbell 3 yo , 12 and a 15. Aberlour 10 and other various yrs plus the first run of abunadh was bottled here, house of Campbell ,house of lords 8 + 12 yr old, legendary 18+21 yr old, duke of argyll 15 and that's all I can remember , I thought Kilwinning only got aberlour after the Pernod ricard takeover but it seems they had it before according to my friend. Anyone that can ellaborate on this or correct me if I have anything wrong feel free ! I would be interested to know a bit more as I am local to this unfortunately closed down bottling plant, and it's good to have some knowledge of the local Whisky industry.
