Afternoon all,
I've recently returned from a trip up to the North West of Scotland and have come back with 3 new bottles.
I have a Signatory bottling of Caol Ila which looks nice, 11 years old, should be nice.
A bottle of Ileach which I tried before I purchased and thought it was a great Whisky for £21, not as smooth as a more mature Whisky but full of flavour and punch
Lastly I picked up a bottle from the Oban distillery, which is apparently only available from the distillery, from the guy who I was talking to there it's a marry between the 14 yr old and some 17 year old which, together, have been matured in a sherry barrel if I remember correctly. Apparently limited to approx 6000 bottles. Has anyone else tried this? Regardless I'm looking forward to trying it |

| albo I havent had the Oban distillery only bottling but it sounds like it will be like a cask strength version of the Oban Distillers Edition which is double cask matured, it is finished in montilla sherry casks and the Oban DE is excellent. |

Innes you are right Diageo introduced the Oban distillery only bottling early 2010 and it is the Oban Distillers Edition but botlled at natural cask strength and it has no age statement.
albo the Distillers Edition is very good so i would imagine your distillery only bottling is excellent. There is a tasting note for the Oban distillery only bottling here:

Its been a few years since i have been up to Oban so i havent had the chance to try the distillery only bottling but i have had both the Oban1992 & 1993 distillers edition and both were excellent so i would think you have bought yourself a very nice dram albo.
The Ileach is great value, watch out for the Ileach Cask Strength, it is also very good. |

Thanks for the replies all.
The Ileach was from the Green Welly shop on the A82, they have a rather laege selection of Whisky there, they had the cask strength one and a 12yr also from memory. But given the money I had spent on the other 2 bottles and the fact the wife was there, I went for the cheap (weak) option
Though I could have spent a packet in that shop. |
