| Sadly the Balvenie Portwood is out of my budget right now so I'm looking for more affordable decent port-finished whiskies. I love the Quinta Ruban, and I'm also a fan of the Cragganmore Distillers' Edition, are there any others at around that price range you would recommend? Has anyone had the Glencadam 12 y/o port finish? |

Alex i have a taste for the Port cask whisky myself. Here is a list of Port Pipe matured and Port Cask Finished whisky which i have. I havennt tried them all yet but i am working on it.
Some are more expensive and difficult to find now.
Arran Port Cask Finish
Balvenie 21 Year Old Port Wood Finish
Balvenie 1993 Port Wood finish
Benriach Solstice 15 Peated Port Finish
Benromach 1999 Origins Batch 2
Bowmore 1991 16 Year Old
Bowmore Dawn
Bowmore Voyage
Bowmore 21 year old 1988
Bushmills 16
Cragganmore Distillers Edition
Glencadam 12 Year Old Portwood Finish
Glendronach 20 Year Old Tawny Port Finish
Glengoyne port cask finish 13 year old
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Tullibardine 1993 Port Wood Finish
Tyrconnell 10 Port Finish
The Glencadam 12 year old port finish only came out last year, i would say the Port is well integrated into the whisky, a lovely sweetness. Delicious. Although not in the class of the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban or Balvenie 21 but still worth a try. |

Alex he Arran Port Cask Finish is pretty good IMO
James you have put me in the mood for a bottle of Bushmills 16, it has been ages since i have had this, definitely my choice from the Bushmills range (apart from the Bushmills 21 madiera finish which is excellent but unfortunately overpriced for its age) i guess it is the touch of port in the 16 which makes it so good. |

| As far as port finished whisky is concerned the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is hard to beat for quality/value. The Balvenie 21 is excellent but not priced (well at least for me) for everyday dramming. I havent tried the Glencadam port finish but i agree the Arran port finish is a decent whisky. |

| Ah, thanks, I'd forgotten about the Arran. It's going on my list as well. I do love the Quinta Ruban, but as it's about to run out I thought I'd try a different port finish. |

I agree that the Balvenie 21 YO Portwood is not a daily dram, but definitely worth the cost. I think it is one of the finest malts out there, if a little too drinkable! _________________ Rob Hughes

Alex last month Glendronach launched a new 15 year old version of their Tawny Port Finish
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/glenDronach15tawnyport.htm
I havent tried the 15 year old yet but if the 20 year old is anything to go buy it should be good. i think the 15 is priced around £45, they still have the 20 year old at The Whisky Exchange for £61 |

| Thanks William, I remember asking you about it in the thread you originally mentioned it! Sorry to repeat myself. I still haven't tried anything from Glendronach, (I'm a bit behind in my appreciation of sherried whisky) but I'm probably going to buy the Revival very soon, given the high praise it has received. |
