Hi guys, im new to this website and relatively new to whisky collecting as i only started in November last year after a trip to Craigellachie for my 23rd birthday Very Happy Since then i've collected around 35 bottles and i don't really have anything decent to show them off in (they're on a shabby bookcase at the minute). So i was just wondering how you all showed off/stored your bottles, and if you knew of anyone or any store that can make or sell good whisky cabinets?
Thanks
Jamie

I am not aware of any store that sells whisky cabinets as such but if you shop around in furntiture stores you may find something in the size and style you are after. You can aways get a furniture maker to make a cabinet to suit you but this could be expensive. My opened bottles which i am drinking at the moment are in a display type cabinet and all the unopened bottles are scattered around the house in cupboards.

Welcome to the SMW forum whiskyjam. t

The yellow pages should list local furniture makers but i would think you will be looking at at least £1000 for a decent small hand made cabinet. As Innes says shop around in furniture stores you may find something you like.

I had the same problem, and after extensive searching, I decided to get a cabinet from Ikea, and after building it myself, I am really happy with it.
It's pretty large, but has a large cabinet on the top with 2 glass doors and 2 adjustable glass shelves, a small drawer in the middle, and then an identical cabinet in the lower half.

I have all my bottles on one shelf, with all my different glasses etc on others.
Here is a link to the exact cabinet I have:

And a picture from the website:

I forgot to add, that it's quite complicated to build, but the quality is great for the price. It says it needs to be built by 2 people, but I proved otherwise! Razz

I have a large display cabinet from IKEA which i got a while ago, i dont think they stock it now but they usually have a decent selection of display cabinets at a decent price. It was a bit fiddly to build but not a problem. Mine is fitted with a spot light whch looks good shining through the glass shelves highlighting the bottles.

i dont have any fancy cabinets either just book case type shelving around all the walls in the spare bedroom which i use as an office. Somehow I dont think the wife would like a display cabinet full of whisky in the living room.

That is a good looking Bowmore collection you have got there John

I dont display mine either. I keep them in a cupboard in the kitchen.
two shelves, but that way the wife doesnt realise how many I have (well she isnt going to pull them all out to see if any new ones have been added)

I do have a few tucked away in the bedroom though...Glenfiddich snow pheonix, foundation reserve and and age of discovery. To display them would just mean she cold comment on them.....never a good thing
