Hi folks. I'm delighted to announce that Scotch Whisky Auctions will be holding its inaugural auction beginning Saturday, April 2, and running for four weeks. This is a new company, but the people behind it have been floating around whisky for a long time.
I'm Bill Mackintosh, chairman of Glasgow's Whisky Club and a director of Glasgow's Whisky Festival, which some of you might have attended last November. It was a sell-out success, and this year's is heading the same way.
My business partner is Tam Gardiner, who runs Tam's Drams, a specialist whisky shop in Glasgow. He has long experience in collecting old and rare whiskies.
We plan to offer a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for a price well below the current auction houses McTear's and Bonhams. The first couple of auctions will charge sellers 10% of the hammer price, plus £2 per item offered.
There will be no buyer's premium. Successful purchasers (UK only) will be charged postage. Feel free to pop over to http://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com and have a look. If you have anything you'd like to put in the sale, drop us a line a mail@scotchwhiskyauctions.com
Thanks for your time.

Bill Mackintosh

All the best with the venture Bill. There seems to a few interesting lots in the first auction.

I had a look at your delivery page, it says:
Quote:
Winning lot(s) will be sent to the successful bidder in a secure, insured package. The cost of postage will be added to the hammer price.

Probably jumping the gun a bit but will there be an option to personally collect your winning lots rather than pay postage?

Hi Kenny. Absolutely! If you want to collect we'll be happy to see you and maybe even pour you a dram! Equally for others living outside Glasgow and the west, we're happy to store your bottles until you make it over/through.
