Hi
I'm about to list a couple of bottles of Whisky on Ebay, I don't have a clue as to their value, but I thought I'd take advantage of the free ebay listings this weekend.
Bottle 1 - 40%, 70cl, Moray Golf Club Centenary (1889-1989). From what I have read on the www I believe Moray Golf Club used to use Glen Grant Whisky up until 1992.
Bottle 2 - 40%, 70cl, Flower of Scotland, with Falcon Fishing Gear named on the label, it mentions that it is a limited quantity... but doesn't say how limited
I intend to start bottle 1 at £30, and bottle 2 at £20....... I would be grateful for your thoughts as to whether you think that this would be too expensive ?. |

Thanks for replying Kenny.
I can't believe that my bottle of MGC is worth anything like the sum achieved by the bottle sold at Mctears ........ but I'll be sending them an email pdq.
But, just in case they're not interested - I'll leave the ebay auction running until I get a response from Mctears
Many thanks for the lead. |

| As your bottle was probably bottled in 1989 it probably isnt Macallan so you may find it wont fetch as high a sum as the more sought after macallan but it is worth contacting mctears anyway. |

Hi Dom
I tried to contact Mctears via their website last night. Unfortunately their website doesn't like my email address, and keeps giving me the message that it detects spam......... my fault for using hotmail - the spammers friend
Having though it over, I don't think my Whiskies are worth much more than my ebay start price (particularly the Flower of Scotland bottle). So if I take into account the auction house fees, and the fact that I have to post the bottle(s) to them, and if they don't sell I'd also have to pay for return postage, I'd probably be out of pocket to the tune of £25 to £30 on postage.
I've therefore decided that it makes more financial sense to limit any potential losses and carry on with my Ebay listings. If they don't sell, it hasn't cost me a penny, and I can crack the bottles open and enjoy them .
Edit - I'm rather surprised to find that the bottle of Flower Of Scotland currently has twice as many watchers as the Moray golf club bottle............ I expected it to be the other way around |
