Hello All
I recently inherited a couple of bottles of whisky. They were bought at Duty Free around the late 60's by a teetotaler and have remained unopened. Neither is boxed.

The first is an 8 year old Dufftown Glenlivet Highland Malt. 1 litre bottle. It says on the label, A DE LUXE From the house of Bells.

The second, though not a malt, is a lovely shaped 1litre bottle of The Antiquary De Luxe old scotch whisky.

I know the whisky does not age in the bottle, so the 8 year old Malt, is still an 8 year old malt, but would these be of any value to anyone as collectors pieces.

I do enjoy my whisky but feel these might be better appreciated elsewhere.

Any advice on how rare these are, as well as possible values would be gratefully appreciated.

Derek

Hi Derek

I suspect what you have is 1980s bottlings of Dufftown Glenlivet and Antiquary. If they are you would expect to pay in a whisky specialist shop around £150 -£250 for the Dufftown and around £50 - £70 for the Antiquary

They should have a few of these bottles over at The Whisky Exchange shop, if you take a look they may have bottles similar to yours. But remember the shop price includes taxes and the shop mark up so you may only get 50% - 70% of the prices you see in a private sale.

If your are looking to sell them here are a few popular places to sell whisky:

Mctears auction Glasgow - contact them via their website
Bonhams auction Edinburgh - contact them via their website
ebay
The Whisky Exchange shop buys as welll as sells rare and collectable whisky and again you can contact them via their website.

If you do contact anyone you will probably get a better response if you supply them with detailed info from each botlle and photos.

Thanks for that response.

I had a look at The Whisky Exchange and sure enough there are a couple there! Cheers. I have attached a link to a couple of pics of my Dufftown malt. All the ones shown seem to be 75cl, I have 1lt. Is that rarer?

Very interesting stuff for sure.

Being a litre bottle may fetch a bit more but the price it will fetch is more for the rarity and collectability of the whisky. I would say your bottle is similar to the bottle TWE has priced at £305.36
