|
|
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have quite recently come in to the possession of 5 botles of whisky due to the passing of my grandfather. I have managed to find them or very similar at thewhiskyexchange, com. I am looking to find a home for all of them if anyone can help me? I have no idea where to start to be honest so any help wil be most greatly appreciated.
The five bottles are as follows:- Dufftown Glenlivet 8 years old, Tobermory 40% 75cl, The Edradour 10 years, Chivas Bros. Royal salute 21 years (in bag and box), and Glencadam 12 years. Very similar bottles of these can be bought on thewhiskyexhcnage for £200, £150, £200, £200 and £999 respectively.
Would anyone on here be interested in these? I have read on here to expect up to 25% reduction in retail price for a private sale so I am open to any offers. |

If your are looking to sell them here are a few popular places to sell whisky:
Mctears auction Glasgow - contact them via their website
Bonhams auction Edinburgh - contact them via their website
ebay
The Whisky Exchange shop buys as welll as sells rare and collectable whisky and again you can contact them via their website.
If you do contact anyone you will probably get a better response if you supply them with detailed info from each botlle and photos.
Some whisky from the very popular sought after distilleries such as Macallan and Ardbeg can fetch close to the shop price but in general the prices you see at The Whisky Exchange i would say you should expect to get between 50% - 70% in a private sale but some times you can get lucky at auction. |

Thanks for the advice McKay. Much appreciated.
Would you say auction is the best way to sell these then? Is it unlikely to get any interest from a forum such as this? Thanks again |

| You could try ebay but set a reserve you are willing to accept. Also it will cost nothing to contact The Whisky Exchange. A auction such as Mctears or Bonhams will handle everything for you, as far as how much you will get at auction just depends on the bidders on the day. If you list any of the bottles on ebay be sure to give them a mention here or in deed if you put them into auction at Mctears it is free to mention it here. |
