|
|
Hi
I wonder if any of you experienced single malt whisky drinkers would be kind enough to recommend a couple of malts for a newbie malt drinker to try.
I have always enjoyed one or two blended whisky when out in bars but want to make the step up to malts and don't really know which malt to go for, there seems to be so many. Anyway any recommendations you have would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Steve and welcome to the world of single malt whisky, I am sure you will enjoy it as you already have a taste for blended whisky.
This would be my top 10 recommendations for any newbie to try:
Balvenie Double Wood 12
Glenmorangie 10
Highland Park 12
Dalwhinnie 15
Aberlour a'bunadh
Aberlour 10
Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig 10 or Lagavulin 16
Talisker 10
Clynelish 14
Glenfiddich 15
Cheers,

Hi John thanks for the list. Sorry i havent responded until now.
Anyway i have since bought 3 bottles from the list you gave me: Balvenie Double Wood 12, Highland Park 12 and Ardbeg 10.
So far i have tried the Balvenie and the Highland Park and all i can say is EXCELLENT SUGGESTIONS i will probably open the Arbeg this weekend but if i enjoy it half as much as the other two i wont be disappointed.
Thanks for the suggestions, you have definitely made a malt whisky drinker out of me.
