Hi
Please can any member give me any information and value about the following two sealed bottles of Whiskey I have.

1 x Bottle of White Horse Cellar Old Blend Scotch Whiskey with the date 1947 and number 1126116 on the label. Also on the label By Appointment to His Majesty The King.

1 x Bottle of Bulloch Lade & Co Ltd Extra Special Gold Label 70% proof Scotch Whiskey.
The label states: Glasgow Scotland, By Appointment to H.M.King George V1. It has what appears to be a Champagne wire twist under the bottle top label.

I would really appreciate knowing more about these. Thank you.

I think in a shop you would expect to pay aroubd £250 - £300 (around half that amount in a private sale) for the White Horse Cellar 1947, of course that depends on the condition and level in the bottle, if you look over in The Whisky Exchange they usually have a few available, they may have one similar to your bottle.

The Bulloch Lade & Co Scotch whisky company was established in Glasgow in the 1730s and remained independent until 1927 when it was taken over by Distillers Company Ltd "DCL" who where taken over by Guinness under United Distillers and today is Diageo. Bulloch Lade & Co was known for its BL Gold Label blend and also a vatted malt called Glen Ila. From 1880 to 1922 BL owned the Caol Ila distillery and the BL Gold Label blend was supposed to contain a generous portion of Caol Ila malt whisky. The vatted malt was discontinued by United Distillers. The Bulloch Lade blend which was previously very successful is available again, it is exported to the USA, and New Zealand.

As King George VI sat on the throne from 1936 until his death in 1952 your bottle obviously comes from that period. Not sure about value but you could try contacting one of the whisky specialist auctions such as Mctears in Glasgow or Bonhams in Edinburgh as they may be able to advise you better.

Thanks Alistair
At least I know something about these two bottles from the information you have given me.
The Bulloch Lade & Co Ltd Extra Special Gold Label appears to be a very elusive whiskey to track down as regards to information and value. I guess I will have to accept that all I will ever know about it is the dates you have kindly given me.
Regards
